Rockstar North is a video game development studio based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Originally founded as DMA Design in 1987, the studio created the first Grand Theft Auto and became the principal developer behind the series’ major 3D and HD-era entries.

The company became part of Rockstar Games and adopted the Rockstar North name in 2002. Its work includes Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V.
