Solomon Reed

Solomon Reed is a veteran agent of the New United States’ Federal Intelligence Agency and a central character in Phantom Liberty. Years before the expansion, Reed operated in Night City with Song So Mi and Alex. A failed extraction and political betrayal left him wounded and officially erased, after which he remained undercover as a sleeper agent awaiting a call that might never come.

Reed returns to active duty after the attack on President Myers’ aircraft in Dogtown. Working with V, he rebuilds contact with Alex and investigates Songbird’s actions, Kurt Hansen’s operation and the security crisis surrounding the president. He is highly capable, observant and often protective, but his decisions remain governed by duty to the FIA even when that institution has used or abandoned the people around him.

His relationship with Songbird is both professional and personal: he sees himself as a mentor and believes returning her to state control can still constitute rescue. Phantom Liberty repeatedly tests whether Reed’s loyalty is strength, denial or a barrier that prevents him from imagining another life. V’s choices can lead him toward several sharply different confrontations and outcomes.

Idris Elba provides Reed’s likeness, voice and performance. Official material describes him as an experienced covert operative able to navigate networks of spies and netrunners, and the character anchors the expansion’s espionage-thriller tone.
