Jackie Welles

Jackie Welles is a Night City mercenary whose warmth, ambition and loyalty make him one of V’s defining relationships. Raised in Heywood by his mother Guadalupe, Jackie spent part of his youth with the Valentinos before leaving the gang and pursuing work as an independent merc. He dreams of becoming a legend of the Afterlife, but unlike many ambitious edgerunners, he retains a strong attachment to family, neighborhood and personal honor.

Jackie becomes V’s partner during the period leading up to the main story. Their friendship grows through smaller jobs and culminates in Dexter DeShawn’s operation at Konpeki Plaza, where Jackie’s optimism and desire for recognition collide with the realities of Night City’s mercenary culture. His actions during the heist shape V’s path and continue to resonate through later conversations, memorials and optional interactions.

Jackie is closely connected to Misty Olszewski, his mother and the wider Heywood community. His customized ARCH motorcycle and paired pistols reinforce his identity as both a capable combatant and a deeply personal figure rather than a disposable crew member. Player choices can affect how V handles his remains and which later memorial scenes become available, but his importance to V is consistent across the story.

Behind the scenes, Jackie is performed in English by Jason Hightower. Official promotional and cosplay material frequently presents him alongside the game’s core cast, reflecting his central role in Cyberpunk 2077’s opening act.
