Goro Takemura

Goro Takemura is a former bodyguard to Saburo Arasaka whose fall from corporate privilege forces him into an alliance with V. Born in difficult circumstances and recruited into Arasaka’s system, he built his identity around discipline, gratitude and personal loyalty to Saburo. His formal manner and unfamiliarity with everyday Night City life contrast with his skill as a soldier and investigator.

After Saburo’s death, Takemura seeks evidence against Yorinobu Arasaka and views V as both witness and necessary partner. Their investigation connects the aftermath of the Konpeki Plaza heist to Arasaka’s succession struggle. V may develop genuine mutual respect with him, but Takemura’s loyalty to the corporation remains a fundamental limit on their relationship. His survival in one major story sequence depends on an optional player action.

Takemura is not simply an Arasaka antagonist or defector: he remains committed to the values and hierarchy that gave him purpose, even after being discarded by that system. This tension makes him a central lens on corporate loyalty in Cyberpunk 2077. Players can also discover a lighter side through his messages, food complaints and attempts to navigate the city without corporate support.
