Alt Cunningham

Alt Cunningham is a legendary netrunner, software engineer and one of the most important figures in the history of digital consciousness. In the 2010s she created Soulkiller, technology capable of copying a human mind into digital form. Arasaka’s effort to seize that work and Johnny Silverhand’s attempted rescue led to the separation of Alt’s consciousness from her body.

By 2077 Alt exists beyond the Blackwall as a powerful digital intelligence whose identity is related to, but no longer identical with, the human Alt Cunningham. Johnny’s memories and guilt shape how he describes her, while V seeks her ability to understand the Relic and separate the intertwined engrams. Her role links Cyberpunk 2077 directly to foundational events and characters from the tabletop setting.
